Friday Sport

The Oxley HS Junior Sport program

  • The Oxley HS Junior Sport program incorporates both Gala Day and Knockout Competition sports and recreational sports activities.

Each term, students can nominate to be involved in a Gala Day and KO Competition sport. Gala Day and KO Competition sport classes will operate for the whole term, preparing for that term's Galaย Day and matches. The emphasis is on teamwork, skill development, training, tactics, and trial games. The Oxley HS teams will be selected from these classes. It is expected that students wishing to represent Oxley HS in competitions choose this option.

Students who elect not to be involved a Gala Day and KO Competition sport class will chooseย from a range of recreational sport activities.

Recreational School Sport

Recreational School Sport
  • Students choose a recreational sporting activity from the listย (insert link)ย of offered sports,
  • Complete the School Bytes sport option form with 3 preferences,
  • Attending their elected sport for the term during Friday sport periods,
  • Sports that incur a cost, e.g, bus transport and/or venue entry cost, need to be paid via Window 1 at school or the online School Bytes link.

Squad Sport

Squad Sport
  • Students elect their chosen sport for the Gala Day and KO Competition teams,
  • Students may have multiple sports that they play and can train across different teams depending on the Gala Day and KO competition requirements. For example, a Football (Soccer) player trains the first half of Term 2 for Football matches, then transitions to Rugby League for the later half of Term 2,
  • Trials may need to be held based on squad size,
  • Students attend focused training sessions during Friday sport time in preparation for Gala Day and KO games/matches.
